Voice assistant

Prerequisites:

  • You need to install Connect on-Device version 3.38.0 or later to use the voice assistant feature.

  • The language you select must be installed on the Windows machine.

  • You need a keypad with Braille symbols.

Accessibility isn’t just a requirement for public-sector organizations in the European Union (EU). The European Accessibility Act (EAA) mandates that a range of products and services be accessible to people with disabilities. The law, which applies to businesses operating within the EU, aims to resolve discrepancies in accessibility requirements across different European countries.

The voice assist enables machine users with low or no vision to make deposits and dispenses.

Before you can use the feature, you must:

  • Enable the feature in Connect on-Device Studio

  • Connect a keypad with Braille symbols to the machine.

Once the feature has been enabled, the machine user can use the keypad to start the voice assistant. The machine user can choose from several different languages and adjust the volume of the voice assistant.

Enabling voice assistant and keypad navigation in Connect on-Device Studio

Before a machine user can start using the voice assistant and keypad navigation features in Connect on-Device, the feature must be enabled in Connect on-Device Studio.

Task. Enable voice assistant and keypad navigation
  1. Start Connect on-Device Studio.

  2. In the navigation pane, select Miscellaneous.

  3. In the Accessibility section, select Keypad navigation and Voice assistant.

  4. Select Save.

Task. Start the voice assistant

When you sign in to Connect on-Device, you must activate the voice assistant.

  1. Start Connect on-Device.

  2. Double-click the Stop button on the keypad. You can also select Toggle voice assist on the login screen.

The voice assistant goes through all the available languages and explains how to change the language and volume.

Task. Change the voice assistant language

You can change the voice assistant language from the Connect on-Device login screen. By default, the voice assistant uses the language configured as the default language for Connect on-Device but other languages are available.

  1. Start Connect on-Device.

  2. Double-click Correct on the keypad or select Change language on the login screen.

  3. Follow the voice instructions and click the key for the language you want to use. You can also select the language on the Select language screen.

  4. Follow the voice instructions to save your settings.

Task. Change the volume of the voice assistant

You can change the volume of the voice assistant from the Connect on-Device Select language screen.

  1. Start Connect on-Device.

  2. Double-click Correct on the keypad. You can also select Change language on the login screen.

  3. Follow the voice instructions and click the key to increase or decrease the volume. You can also select Increase volume or Decrease volume on the Select language screen.

  4. Follow the voice instructions to save your settings.

Task. Make a deposit
  1. Sign in to Connect on-Device.

  2. Start the voice assistant by double-clicking the Stop button.

  3. Enter your login credentials.

  4. Follow the voice instructions to start the deposit service.

  5. Follow the voice instructions to select whether to make a cash deposit or a bag drop deposit.

  6. Follow the voice instructions to make the deposit.

    • If you are making a bag drop, use the barcode scanner to read the barcode.

    • Follow the voice assistant instructions to add or remove a bag, to add a new bag, and complete the bag drop.

Task. Make a dispense
  1. Sign in to Connect on-Device.

  2. Start the voice assistant by double-clicking the Stop button.

  3. Enter your login credentials.

  4. Follow the voice instructions to start the dispense service.

  5. Follow the voice instructions to select a money mix.

  6. Follow the voice instructions to make a free float dispense.

    • The voice assistant tells you which denomination is selected.

    • To change the denomination, follow the voice instructions.

    • Click the different keys to choose the number of coins or notes of the denomination to be dispensed. The options are 1, 5, 10, and 50.

    • To clear the amount for the selected denomination, click the key indicated by the voice assistant.

    • To complete the dispense, click the key indicated by the voice assistant.

Language files

You can add voice assistant language files for new languages. The file must be a .properties file. Save the file to ..\resources\configurable\i18n\voice.

You also need to ensure the language is enabled in Connect on-Device Studio.
