Installing VaultConnect on a stand-alone computer

Requirements and recommendations:

  • VaultConnect installation file.

  • Computer running Windows placed next to the vault or dumb safe

  • Touch screen (recommended)

  • 2D-enabled barcode reader capable of reading QR codes (optional).

Important

If it's the first time you install VaultConnect on the computer, make sure there are NO Java versions installed on the computer. If you are performing an upgrade, you can leave the current Java installation.

Note

  • No spaces are allowed in the installation folder path.

  • You can run maximum five vault devices from the Connect on-Device installation.

Task. Install VaultConnect on a stand-alone computer

  1. Double-click the installation file to start the installation wizard.

  2. On the Select Destination Location page, select an installation folder. It is recommended that you keep the default installation folder.

  3. Click Next.

  4. Select Clean install when you install for the first time.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Select the type of installation:

    • Full installation - installs Vault Connect and Java Runtime Environment

    • Compact installation - installs Vault Connect without any Java.

    • Custom installation - lets you select what to install

  7. Click Next.

  8. In the Ready to Install dialog box, click Install.

  9. Select the language for the VaultConnect installation wizard.

  10. Click Continue.

  11. On the Edition Selection page, select the VaultConnect Edition you want to use. The options are:

    • VaultConnect Enterprise Edition

    • VaultConnect Retail Edition

  12. Click Next.

  13. On the Vault Setup page, click Enabled next to the vault you want to add. You need to select at least one and maximum five vaults.

  14. In the Setup By column, configure the enabled vaults to deposit/dispense by value or denomination.

  15. Click Next.

  16. On the Vault Content Setup page do the following:

    • Select currency, denominations, notes, and coins for the vaults where the user deposits/dispenses by denomination.

    • Select one or more currencies for the vaults where the user deposits/dispenses by value.

  17. Click Next.

  18. On the Users and Roles page, select the permissions you grant to give the different roles.

  19. Click Next.

  20. On the Hardware page, select connected hardware. These are the options:

    • Printer — select On-Screen to show receipts on screen or a connected printer to print out receipts.

    • Barcode reader — select Keyboard wedge if you intend to use a barcode reader.

    • Card reader — select Keyboard wedge if you have a card reader that supports keyboard wedge and want to allow the user to authenticate using that card reader.

  21. Click Next.

  22. On the Connect Setup page enter the connection details for your Connect node:

    • Broker Host — enter the broker host for the specific node and region.

    • Broker User and Broker Password — enter the credentials for selected tenant.

    • Tenant — enter the tenant name.

  23. Click Next.

  24. On the Finish page, click the Copy button to save the machine ID. You need to paste the machine ID in Connect to register the machine and start a subscription.

  25. Click Finish.

  26. Click Finish one more time to close the installation wizard.

VaultConnect is now installed on your computer. Before using the software, you need to register it in Connect as a VaultConnect and then start a subscription. When registering the VaultConnect you need the machine ID you copied above.
